Visa recently announced that the majority of their interchange rate changes previously announced for April and October 2020 in the U.S. are now deferred to April 2021, with two exceptions:

  • Visa will move forward with consolidating downgrade categories such as EIRF and Standard into a new Non-Qualified interchange program effective July 2020, but will apply a blended rate that should result in minimal/no financial change to our customers. The originally published rate for Non-Qualified will be applied in April 2021.
  • Previously announced changes to consumer credit Supermarket rates will still be effective July 2020. These have minimal impact to our customers.

Customers on an interchange pass-through pricing structure can expect to see pass-through rate changes as previously communicated.
