The BlueSnap payment gateway is part of a global payment platform that connects a website, software, invoice or virtual terminal to card networks and banks, with a BlueSnap merchant account included. BlueSnap accepts payments from more than 200 regions and offers local acquiring in 50 countries. Payroc completed its acquisition of BlueSnap on October 9, 2025, and the product now brands itself as BlueSnap, powered by Payroc.
Both. BlueSnap states that when you connect to its platform, it provides the merchant account along with the gateway technology and payment optimization tools, so a separate acquiring bank is not part of the setup. BlueSnap underwrites each account itself, based on your business model and the regions where you sell. Merchants that want to keep their own merchant account need a gateway-only product instead, such as the Authorize.net Gateway Only plan.
BlueSnap supports Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club and UnionPay, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Click to Pay, Alipay, Skrill and ACH eCheck payments. It also supports SEPA Direct Debit, Pre- Authorized Debit and BECS Direct Debit for bank payments abroad. Card brand availability depends on your country of domicile, account configuration and integration setup.
Yes. BlueSnap offers the BuyNow hosted checkout page (called BlueSnap Checkout on its current product pages), embedded Hosted Payment Fields, the BlueSnap Payment API and plugins for popular shopping carts. The hosted checkout needs minimal coding, while BlueSnap says a Payment API integration takes a few hours to a few days depending on developer experience.
Yes. BlueSnap publishes support guides for Shopify, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento), BigCommerce, Shopware and OpenCart. It also integrates natively with business systems including Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, QuickBooks, Xero, Zuora and Chargebee. For a custom BlueSnap gateway integration, the Payment API and SDKs for iOS, Android and Flutter connect payments to websites, mobile apps, CRMs and billing platforms.
Yes. The BlueSnap Virtual Terminal is a browser-based tool, with no code required, for keying in card and ACH payments received by phone, mail or email. It runs on any Mac or Windows device with an internet connection but cannot process payments offline. Authorized users can save payment details for future charges or send the customer a Payment Link.
Yes. BlueSnap recurring billing runs subscriptions on customizable billing plans, with or without a trial period, and the BlueSnap Subscription Billing Engine charges each renewal automatically. Pair it with tokenized shopper profiles so stored cards rebill without collecting card data again.
Yes. BlueSnap replaces card data with a token and stores it as a vaulted shopper record, so merchants can repeat transactions without storing or re-collecting payment details. BlueSnap Account Updater refreshes stored Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards when numbers or expiration dates change, and it updates vaulted cards on BlueSnap subscriptions in the background with no merchant action.
BuyNow is BlueSnap’s hosted checkout page, which BlueSnap’s current product pages also call BlueSnap Checkout. BlueSnap runs the page on its own servers, it works on mobile and desktop, and it localizes language, currency and payment options for the shopper’s country. Because payment data stays in BlueSnap’s environment, the hosted checkout keeps a merchant’s PCI scope at SAQ A.
BlueSnap Hosted Payment Fields are secure card inputs, served as BlueSnap-hosted iframes, that sit inside your own checkout page. Card data goes straight to BlueSnap and your server never handles it, so eligible integrations qualify for SAQ A while your checkout keeps your branding. BlueSnap’s developer documentation strongly recommends Hosted Payment Fields for PCI compliance and access to all API services.
Yes. BlueSnap Invoice Payments embeds a secure payment link directly in the invoice so customers can pay in a click. Accounts Receivable Automation adds autopay and automated payment reminders on top of that.
Yes. A BlueSnap Payment Link sent from the Virtual Terminal lets the customer enter their own payment details, and the link can be set to a fixed amount or an open amount. BlueSnap Invoice Payments also embeds a payment link in each invoice, with no integration work required.
Yes. BlueSnap supports ACH and eCheck (ECP) payments for U.S. transactions, plus SEPA Direct Debit in Europe, Pre-Authorized Debit in Canada and BECS Direct Debit in Australia. A BlueSnap ACH payment stays pending until the bank’s 3-day rejection window passes, so BlueSnap advises delivering the product only after approval. Under Nacha rules, merchants must keep each shopper’s authorization for 2 years.
BlueSnap includes a rules-based fraud engine from Equifax, built into the platform, with multi-layer device fingerprinting in all service levels and velocity checks. 3D Secure 2 (3DS2) authentication can shift liability for certain fraud chargebacks to the card issuer and supports PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication for European and UK sales. Merchants can set rules that match their own risk tolerance and apply them by region.
Yes. BlueSnap states that it complies with PCI DSS Level 1, the highest level of PCI compliance. Merchants using the hosted checkout or Hosted Payment Fields carry a reduced PCI burden and may qualify for SAQ A, while merchants that host their own order pages on the BlueSnap Payment API must be fully PCI DSS compliant. BlueSnap partners with SecurityMetrics to help merchants meet these requirements.
Yes. BlueSnap automatically retries a soft-declined subscription charge 5, 10 and 14 days after the first decline, as long as the grace period the merchant sets is still active. Shoppers paying with alternative payment methods get automated reminder emails with a renewal link. Retries apply only to soft declines, so a card that Account Updater reports as closed needs new details from the shopper.
Yes. BlueSnap supports full and partial refunds on card, wallet, PayPal, ACH and SEPA transactions less than 2 years old, through the BlueSnap Merchant Portal or the Refund API. For cards and ACH, BlueSnap first tries to void the transaction; an ACH payment that cannot be voided is refunded after it settles. Authorized users can also reverse eligible authorizations before capture.
Yes. BlueSnap provides a REST Payment API, a Reporting API, Embedded Payments APIs, developer documentation and a sandbox at sandbox.bluesnap.com that includes all API services, with separate credentials for production. BlueSnap webhooks post to your server as soon as an event completes, covering charges, refunds, chargebacks, declines, subscription renewals and Account Updater changes.
Yes. BlueSnap international payments run on local acquiring in 50 countries, more than 90 presentment currencies that are all available for payout and acceptance from more than 200 regions, with intelligent routing and consolidated reporting. BlueSnap says local acquiring lowers cost and raises authorization rates. Since October 2025, BlueSnap has been part of Payroc, which processes more than $125 billion a year.
Possibly, but not on BlueSnap’s standard pricing. BlueSnap Quick Start Pricing does not apply to high-risk merchants, who are directed to a BlueSnap Payments Expert instead. BlueSnap does not publish a list of approved high-risk industries and underwrites every account itself. Its Prohibited Items list does not name CBD, nutraceuticals, vape or travel, so merchants in those industries need confirmation from BlueSnap before applying.
No. BlueSnap’s Prohibited Items list bars weapons, firearms, ammunition and knives, credit repair, debt collection, debt settlement and debt relief, cryptocurrency and several gambling categories, so these businesses cannot process with BlueSnap. AllayPay’s high-risk program lists gun shops and credit repair among the industries it serves for U.S. merchants.
BlueSnap publishes standard pay-as-you-go pricing, called Quick Start Pricing, but it does not apply to high-risk merchants, and BlueSnap’s Payments Experts quote custom pricing for other businesses. The pricing page does not list ACH, chargeback or currency conversion fees, so request those in writing.
BlueSnap bundles its gateway with a BlueSnap-provided merchant account, with local acquiring in 50 countries. Authorize.net offers an All-in-One plan that includes an Authorize.net merchant account, or a Gateway Only plan that connects to a separate merchant account. AllayPay offers Authorize.net on AllayPay merchant accounts.
AllayPay® helps U.S. businesses compare BlueSnap with a dedicated high-risk merchant account. BlueSnap provides and underwrites its own merchant account when a business connects to its platform, and BlueSnap is now part of Payroc. AllayPay is a registered ISO/MSP of Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Cincinnati, OH, and pairs its merchant accounts with the Authorize.net, NMI or Fluid Pay gateways and a dedicated U.S.-based account manager.
For U.S. businesses that fall outside BlueSnap’s standard pricing, AllayPay is an alternative focused on high-risk industries such as nutraceuticals, gun shops, CBD and Delta 8. AllayPay pairs its merchant accounts with the Authorize.net, NMI or Fluid Pay gateways and offers chargeback monitoring services.
To open a BlueSnap merchant account, apply directly with BlueSnap through the Create Account option on bluesnap.com; high-risk businesses should speak with a BlueSnap Payments Expert because Quick Start Pricing does not apply to them. To work with AllayPay® instead, request a free quote. AllayPay, based in Plantation, Florida since 2016, boards U.S. merchants only and offers same-day approvals for many businesses.
