The FreedomPay payment gateway is an independent payment gateway from FreedomPay, a company based in Philadelphia. FreedomPay connects your POS, website, mobile app, or kiosk to your merchant account and the processor you choose. FreedomPay lists more than 1,500 integrations for POS, PMS, kiosks, web, and mobile, and states that it manages billions of transactions a year.
FreedomPay is a payment gateway, not a processor or acquirer, so FreedomPay does not issue a FreedomPay merchant account. You still need an approved merchant account and a compatible processor to receive funds. AllayPay sets up merchant accounts so you hold your own MID, and we help connect them to FreedomPay.
FreedomPay supports major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. It also supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, contactless and EMV payments, QR code payments, gift cards, stored value, and private label cards. FreedomPay also supports regional payment methods in some markets outside the U.S. Availability depends on your merchant account, processor, and setup.
Yes. FreedomPay’s Hosted Payment Flexibility lets you use an iFrame or a full-page redirect checkout. You can match the checkout to your brand with CSS. Developers can also use a single API endpoint that bundles payment, tokenization, fraud, and 3D Secure requests together.
Yes. FreedomPay offers pre-built plugins for BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and SAP, but does not list a Shopify plugin. For hospitality, FreedomPay announced Oracle Payment Interface (OPI) support in October 2016, adding EMV for the OPERA property management system and Oracle POS systems including 3700, 9700, Simphony, and Xstore. Each FreedomPay integration still runs on your own merchant account.
FreedomPay states that its average integration time is three to four weeks or less. For eCommerce, FreedomPay says its pre-certified integrations, such as the FreedomPay BigCommerce app, eliminate custom development. Merchant account approval is a separate step, and AllayPay offers same-day approvals for many businesses.
Yes. FreedomPay Card Services lists three virtual terminal options: Product and virtual terminal, Simplified virtual terminal, and Multi-invoice virtual terminal. Organizations such as West Virginia University use FreedomPay virtual terminals to take card payments, process voids and refunds, and close batches at the end of the day. Ask AllayPay whether a virtual terminal fits your setup.
Yes. FreedomPay supports recurring card-not-present payments. It also handles orders like buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS) and buy online, return in store (BORIS).
Yes. FreedomPay offers built-in tokenization and card on file services, and it provisions network tokens for stored credentials. When a customer’s card is reissued, replaced, or closed, FreedomPay applies the change to the stored credential automatically, so card on file payments keep working. Tokens replace card numbers, so you do not need to store full card data in your own systems.
FreedomPay point-to-point encryption (P2PE) encrypts card data the moment a customer taps or dips a card, and the data stays encrypted until it reaches a secure decryption point outside your systems. FreedomPay states that its PCIvalidated P2PE removes the POS and supporting network from PCI DSS scope and reduces PCI DSS requirements from 330 security controls to 32.
Yes. FreedomPay supports fixed countertop and mobile devices from makers such as Ingenico, PAX, Verifone, Castles, and Elo. It also offers offline functionality, so checkout can keep running if your network drops.
FreedomPay does not publicly list ACH or eCheck support. Its alternative payment methods page covers digital wallets, QR code payments, Buy Now Pay Later, and regional methods such as iDEAL, SEPA, and Interac. If your business needs ACH and eCheck processing, AllayPay can review your options alongside your card setup.
FreedomPay offers 3D Secure and SCA authentication, network tokenization, and global fraud and chargeback management. FreedomPay’s legal terms list 3DS through Mastercard and 3DS through Cardinal as optional services, and its universal API can bundle payment, fraud, and 3D Secure calls in one request. AllayPay adds chargeback monitoring services on the merchant account side.
FreedomPay’s P2PE solution is validated by the PCI Security Standards Council. Its BigCommerce app is PCI SAQ A compliant. Merchants must still complete the PCI requirements that apply to their own payment setup.
FreedomPay states that it processes transactions in under one second, often in less than 600 milliseconds. Actual speed can vary based on your network, processor, and setup.
Yes. The FreedomPay Enterprise Portal lets authorized users refund transactions, void pending authorizations, edit pending batches, and adjust settlement timing.
The FreedomPay Enterprise Portal shows detailed data for every transaction across every device and channel. You can run batch, transaction, and audit reports and manage access by user role, with permissions that follow your full estate hierarchy.
Yes. FreedomPay is independent, so it does not lock you into one processor. You can connect to any processor that FreedomPay supports, and FreedomPay states that it covers 90% of acquirers across the globe. AllayPay helps you choose an acquiring relationship that fits your business.
Yes. Large brands in hospitality, retail, food service, sports and entertainment, casinos and gaming, and higher education use FreedomPay. FreedomPay reports 100% client retention at the enterprise level. Suitability depends on your volume, software, and processor needs.
FreedomPay does not publish a list of supported or prohibited high-risk industries, and its public client base centers on enterprise hospitality, retail, stadium, gaming, and campus brands. Whether a high-risk business can run on FreedomPay is set by the acquiring bank that underwrites its merchant account. AllayPay specializes in high-risk industries such as CBD, nutraceuticals, and vape, and confirms which gateways your approved account supports.
For high-risk merchants, AllayPay offers three payment gateways directly: Authorize.net, NMI, and Fluid Pay. AllayPay pairs them with high-risk merchant accounts and chargeback monitoring services. FreedomPay is built for enterprise brands in hospitality, retail, and gaming that need P2PE and omnichannel payments across many locations.
FreedomPay does not publish standard pricing for its payment gateway. The FreedomPay BigCommerce app lists custom pricing with “Contact us for pricing,” and FreedomPay’s legal page lists optional services such as 3DS, surcharging, and observability under their own terms. Your merchant account is priced on its own, so request a quote from AllayPay.
FreedomPay and Authorize.net are both payment gateways, but they serve different merchants. FreedomPay is an independent, enterprise-focused gateway with PCI-validated P2PE, and Oracle OPERA support. Authorize.net, backed by Visa, serves small businesses. AllayPay offers Authorize.net directly.
